Last week, we celebrated Eli's 3rd birthday. WOW! Feels like a lot longer than 3 years. Kidding! We had his little family party on Tuesday because Kyle had to work on his actual birthday which was Friday. It was fun...he was happy...life is good. This blog entry is titled properly...Eli calls birthdays in general: Happy Birthday You You! We think it stems from what he thinks the words to the song, "Happy Birthday", are, but we aren't sure. "Happy Birthday to you...." Loosely translated by a toddler: "Happy Birthday You You"...
Eli got some good presents, but nothing compared to his favorite present in the next picture...
We decided to get Eli a "big bike" for his birthday, so we took him to Walmart to pick one out. We were sure that he would want a 2-wheeler like the other kids, but when his saw this tricycle he went crazy! We let him sit on it to see if he fit and the next thing we knew, he was riding up and down the aisles at full speed!! After making apologies to people in the store that he nearly mowed over, we decided this was the bike for him. He loves it!
All the kids eating birthday cake and watermelon sherbert (Kyle is the worst ice cream picker-outer ever!!!)
Funny picture of Ansley and Claire. I told Ansley to pull a funny face and I didn't realize until I looked at the picture that Claire was pulling one too!
And last, but not least, on Eli's actual birthday (Friday, June 22nd) he was helping me make cookies. The stool he was standing on tipped over and he caught his chin on the edge of the counter, splitting it open. Living in a small town, we have few options when such things happen. The doctor was out of the office and we decided not to bother him at home and we didn't want to make the 35 min. drive to the hospital in Mesquite, so we used a butterfly bandage to close the cut. It worked fine, but he will have a nice scar to remember his 3rd birthday by. *Notice the blood mixed with chocolate on his shirt and the yummy cookie in his hand. You can tell by the look on his face that the pain was worth that cookie.
